Have you heard the big news? Macau Kitchen is coming to London for the first time! We will be hosting an exclusive secret menu event at the prestigious School of Wok in Covent Garden.
We'll be serving classic Macanese and Malacca Portuguese dishes. Chef Kei will introduce classic Macanese cuisine and Malacca Portuguese cuisine to our guests, as well as its connection between Macau and Malacca. Chef Kei will also present two of his own signature dishes, which are served at the Macau Kitchen in Edinburgh.
The history behind this type of cuisine is incredibly important to us here at Macau Kitchen. Macau and Malacca were the most important Portuguese settlements in Asia, developing into an intercultural gastronomic marriage. These communities, the Macao Luso-Asian communities as they are called in Macau, and the Kirstang in Malacca, Malaysia are incredibly connected to each other. They share a similar language, gastronomy, and culture which all relate to the Portuguese spice trade in Asia, and the intermarriages of the Portuguese settlers with the Goan, Chinese, and Malaysian communities.
